Maiden Call Port of Huizen

On the 22nd of may the 135 meter long “Royal Crown” from shipping company Hebridean Island cruises of Neerlandic, celebrated her Maiden call in the historical fishing town Huizen.

On its own already a great event it was the first commercial arrival of a river cruise ship. The passengers where shown around het Gooi, Naarden- Vesting and Huizen in coaches.

Marlous Verbeek,  Alderman for Economy and Tourism in Huizen recalled:” everything went smoothly and the passengers had a good time. The impressive cruise ship also received a lot of attention from locals, who came to have a peak. As a community we are very happy with this premier and with the 5 reservations already on the books for the coming season. Huizen could potentially grow to a beautiful new destination for river cruises.”

Huizen is practically situated  when looking to Amsterdam, and has Utrecht, Amserfoort, het Gooi and Vechtstreek, the Lakes, and Flevoland with Almeren in its surroundings. These are all attractive tourist destinations.

The atmospheric old town-centre and the historical harbour make Huizen itself an attractive town for river cruise passengers from around the world. The dock facilities have two new quays, for ships up to 135 meters, with environmentally friendly shore power, water supply, gates and fenders for safety of the passengers. Tour buses that will take the passengers to their destinations have comfortable parking and embarking facilities. In the last couple of years the docks have been transformed into a nautical centre with a picturesque 19th century atmosphere.
